Everything here is written for that stage. The books explain what the signs traditionally mean and give the ordinary explanation on the same page, so nothing is taken on faith. The journal is where the practice actually happens — dated entries, what was noticed, what was made of it. Read back over months, that record is what tells a beginner whether they are developing or pattern-matching.
